| “Bible Sketches for Kids: The Old Testament” by Gillette Elvgren This playbook contains eleven sketches from the Old Testament that are fast moving, easy to memorize, have lots of humor, and many of which are participational. Included are three part series’ from Joshua, and Elijah and five fun sketches from Proverbs. Cast List: from
five to 10 actors can be used. Sample: BIBLE VERSE: "Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6 (OLD MAN PROVERB enters and recites Proverb.) O.M.P.: “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6. I like this one. Let’s see how this Proverb works itself out in Sparky’s house.1 (SPARKY and his MOM enter.) SPARKY: Hey Mom! Mom, look! I found a giant all day sucker and it hasn't MOM: Yes, Sparky, you certainly did. Where did you find it? SPARKY: In the park. MOM: It was just lying there by itself? SPARKY: Yeah. Well, it was sort of, kind of, lying next to a baby carriage. MOM: I see. And do you think it might have belonged to that baby? SPARKY: Well, it could have; though it's an awfully large sucker for
such a little MOM: So what are you going to do? SPARKY: I guess I'll take it back. MOM: That's the right decision, and when you come back, I'll have a bowl of ice cream for you. SPARKY: Fantastic! Be back in a jiff. (He/She exits. Comes right back in.) Look, Mom! A quarter. That sucker did belong to the baby and the baby's Mom gave me a quarter for bringing it back safe. MOM: And here's your ice cream. I guess you got a double reward. (They exit as other characters enter and take their places.) O.M.P.: Now, let's see what happens in Nelson’s house. NELSON: Hey, Mom! Mom look! I found an all day sucker. MOM: What Flavor? It hasn't even been opened yet. Except for this tear. NELSON: Pistachio mint. MOM: Well, what do you think you should do? NELSON: Lick it to death. MOM: Finders keepers, losers weepers, that's what I always say. It's (They exit, chortling.)
